Nah, the Fungiverse is part of the HFY (Humanity, removed Yeah) sub-genre of writing. It’s an authors works, and I’ve semi-enjoyed some of their stories in the past. I’d say the story parts are meant to be viewed in similar lens to The Culture from Ian M. Banks series.
It’s odd that the site mixes stories in some posts, with op. ed. pieces like this in others but eh I guess that’s the ‘artsy/ziney’ feel.
