After Isaacman climbed back down inside, he was followed by Gillis, a SpaceX engineer who worked on spacesuits among other programs at the company.
This is amazing, having an engineer that worked on the suit on the flight actually testing the suit in space, I’m sure it can have a huge impact on all the future improvements that will be made to the suit.
I would look into the Surfaces, you can find a cheap second hand one and install Linux on it.
They will go through the Van Allen Belt to study the radiation there and the first commercial EVA ever !
This is a huge milestone for SpaceX and commercial space exploration.
It’s so slick and clean looking ! It looks like the concept version of the engine.
I recently found one of the liveCD I received with Ubuntu 8.04 on it. Canonical was sending them for free for people interested in Linux.
I was in high school and tried it on my first computer, it was my first connect with Linux and honestly I think that without Ubuntu I would not have discovered Linux until much later in life.
I imagine the meeting at SpaceX.
The HR manager : So, now that the production is ramping up for Starship in Texas, most of our investments are there and most of our workforce is there already.
Should we move our headquarters there too ? We are getting some good incentives from the Texas government but moving everyone will be tough …
Musk stumbling in the meeting room while looking at his phone
What are we talking about ?
HR manager : moving our headquarter to Texa…
Musk: Right ! because if the trans law of California !
HR: not really, it’s more becau…
Musk: Let me post that on X leaves the room while typing on his phone
I’m in the same boat but with semi professional needs.
I have not found any alternative yet to Onshape that works on linux.
I’m trying FreeCAD and derivatives from time to time but it really feels like a serious step backwards.
You can do that on the Prusa. The firmware let you cancel a part mid print but continue the rest.
For the first flight Starship left the launch pad, second flight it reached space, third flight it went to orbit (technically not completely) so hopefully for the fourth flight it will manage to reenter.
I was thinking exactly that yesterday, I looked for a way to have few web apps without using ferdium.
In France I’m buying from ArianePlast. It’s good PLA for a decent price.
I have not tried it but they also have “Eco” PLA at 13€/kg
I’m more impressed by the filament holding the weight of the printer.
I understand you’re argument but I disagree. If the goal is to use FreeCAD then yeah, it’s probably better to start as a beginner.
If the goal is design parts using CAD then Onshape is a much better option in my opinion.
I would definitely recommend Onshape, this is what I use.
It’s great that FreeCAD exist but I would not recommend it for a beginner in CAD, there is a very steep learning curve before being able to create anything in it.
Yes, exactly that except that I made the first cutout on the 3D printer too.
I had to split it in 10 for it to fit on the printer bed but it gave me a very accurate template
I’ve made a dino shaped kitchen helper tower for my two kids.
I’ve made a big 3D printed template for it and I still need to print the eyes and spine. It’s a woodworking project full of 3D printing !
You can check in your area for the price of second hand MK3S.
In my area they are around 300-350€ but you might get lucky and find one in your budget.
I’ve assembled my mk4 last week and so far this machine is AMAZING.
I don’t have a lot if experience with other printers to compare but so far, since the moment I finished the assembly it’s been printing flawlessly around 16h per day. I just start the print, leave and come back few hours later to collect my print and start a new one.
I have a synology NAS with all my documents and family photos. I’m using the synology drive app on Linux and synology photo on android.
All of that is backed up on Backblaze
