You’re a consumer. If you see something interesting post it to Fediverse so you can also be a contributor.
It sort of sounds like you want people to entertain you for free.
This is mostly an Acer issue I think. A decent vendor will have a software package or even their website that will handle updating your drivers.
Gentoo is for burning cpu time, not much more.
I’m mostly afraid of spam. I don’t mind if a company wants to advertise to their own user base, but I definitely don’t want to deal with spam from elsewhere. I hope the protocol addresses this in a way.

I have a raspberry pi as a print server but that’s about it. I tried a few distros on an old laptop but none really worked that well.
