Maybe engineering used Windows 97?
I salute you. Not many that are willing to do so. Maybe because most people don’t have very deep convictions on using FLOSS. It is easier to just do what everyone else does, after all.
I would say that one shouldn’t use “ex-convict” if the conviction was overturned, since that’s essentially saying the conviction was incorrect to begin with (as far as I understand), while it could be correct for someone who was pardoned, since it isn’t directly about the conviction being wrong in that case (unless I’ve misunderstood that).
It’s a reference to monetary compensation often given to high level executives in large companies for when they leave for some reasons. Usually if the leaving is on a short short time frame as opposed to finding a new position they leave for voluntarily, although I don’t know that much about how they actually work.
