To add onto this, a good starting point is to clone the repo of an app you like from GitHub, Codeberg, GitLab, etc, then work on open issues.

If you’re looking for effortless then go with Ubuntu. It’s honestly solid. Linux mint is another alternative. There’s other I can recommend but I think stability and not having to fix/tinker as things break unexpectedly sounds like something you value.
This is one of many pieces of the puzzle. There are also terrible zoning laws preventing density in cities. Also, to be clear, immigration is essential to our country and we have a responsibility as a wealthy western to country to accept refugees. However, we have been increasing our immigration rates a ton and our new builds has been really low. Many of these new Canadians are sold a false promise.
Housing is a main factor to Canada’s GDP which is scary, so the government is propping it up.
Consider opening a feature request ticket on Github. :) or better yet, start working on it if you’re able to.
Ubuntu ditched Unity for Gnome 5 years ago. Mint is great too though.
I’m surprised by this decision, since Ubuntu’s strength is stability and by extension, friendliness to new users. Imo, a better move would be to ship a separate “unstable” release with non-LTS kernels.
