Children.
Children.
There’s an unforgiving list of keywords that in the right context could mean something objectionable so they just blanket ban anyone who says the word or phrase.
For claiming to hate bootlickers lemmy sure does enjoy when opposing voices are silenced.
And yes, if it’s against the rules to talk about the color orange, then repeated warnings/comment removals for mentioning the color orange before finally banning me for mentioning the color orange is still silencing. Just more protracted. I’m not gonna start pretending there’s no such thing as orange.
Not nearly as often as the abusers successfully use it lol
Most mods are a “permaban first so I don’t have to deal with it” type
I’ve probably been banned from there too at some point.

It’s right there dude
Gotcha. Makes me wish I had the technical know how to spin up my own instance. Those really are like subreddits then.
Are these all lemmy clients?
Content loads just as fast on small subs as on large subs. Not so for instances. I think centralization is inevitable unless federated data transfer gets faster.
If we get to 500k or 5M users, things will naturally get way more decentralized.
What makes you think that? I abandoned my kbin account because all the content is on lemmy and I don’t feel like waiting 4 hours to get that content on kbin. People will go where the content is.
I’ve been banned for defending Biden lol

Anti-unnecessary terms. Changing “child porn” (or CP) to “CSAM” is a ridiculous, confusing, and unnecessary thing. And it takes effort away from meaningful action.
They’re edgy teenagers. They’re hearing adults talk about these horrible trans pedophiles, and they want to rebel against their parents.
I can guarantee the vast majority of those posters are kids themselves just doing stupid cringey edgy kid things.
“What’s the worst thing I can think of? Let me join a community in support of it, that will show my parents”
Just look at that removed. It’s cringetopia.
Sure, but CSAM is a real term and the same thing applies.
The problem is that smaller communities have less content. Yes, they federate with larger communities, but they only pull data every so often. My first fediverse account was on kbin but the fact that it’s so difficult to have active conversations there (plus the hard coded invisible porn filter) made migrate to lemmy.
People who crave activity will naturally centralize.
I prefer looser mod powers
Reddit mods were capricious and drunk with petty power
CCP delenda est
You’re operating under the delusion that they’re moderating in good faith.
