As a newer Linux user I really like flatpaks.

I don’t use them for most things I install but proprietary apps I want sandboxed or programs that have weird issues with dependencies I grab the flatpak.

Half the reason I switched to Linux almost a year ago was to avoid Microsofts forced invasive Ai bullremoved. Seeing stuff like Recall has only cemented my decision.

I could go on a long rant about what I consider “right & wrong” when it comes to Ai but I’m just some dude and wanna use my own computer in the way I want to.

You have to add the drive to a file called ‘fstab’ to have it be mounted on launch

It is kinda annoying Linux doesn’t seem to have a decent auto mount solution yet especially for people like me with 6+ drives in their machine.

I only recently found out Blackberry still make phones and they still have the physical keyboard! One of my coworkers has one and I did a double take when I first seen it.

I’ve tried a few and settled on Audacious.

It’s pretty basic overall but it allows you to use original Winamp skins which I love!

I got my KDE setup like that, sadly you gotta do it manually in the edit mode and it can be a bit finicky at first.

I only recently start using it after also being a browser email user all my life.

Kinda wondering what took me so long Thunderbird is great! don’t have to relearn questionable Ui between different email providers or re-login to check two mailboxes on the same provider.

Only annoying thing is not supporting ProtonMail out of the box.

Windows 11 got quite a few people to look into trying Linux

I personally didn’t think Win11 was that big of a downgrade over Win10, But I also didn’t like 10 to begin with so I didn’t need much convincing.

I used Reaper back on Windows but switched to Ardour for Linux, it’s abit weird to get used to but I’m getting the hang of it.

I’m a newbie bedroom music producer but I’ve actually had more luck with my audio setup on Linux than I did on Windows 10.

I’m using an older Scarlet 2i2 to record guitar and back on Windows I was always having driver issues or Windows randomly resetting the sample rate making my DAW freak out at me.

On Linux it just works right away without me needing to download or tweak anything. Only part of my setup that needed tweaking was using yabridge for a few Windows VSTs.

I threw Ubuntu LTS on an old Surface 3 and it worked without having to use the Surface-linux kernal.

My dads been using it for a year and Gnome works super well with the touchscreen.

I didn’t want to reinstall the whole OS on my Dads laptop since he already has all his stuff on it.

But I’ll probably go Debian if he ever lets me do it.

I don’t use Ubuntu but I threw it on a laptop to give to my dad.

He’s a very basic tech user he basically needed a web browser and somewhere to backup/view his photos off his phone, And even he ran into issue with snaps!

I tried to switch everything over to flatpak but the OS just kept pushing back trying to reinstall SnapD until I ran some script off Github, It’s the exact “I know better than you” bullremoved that pushed me away from Windows.

I chose Pop!_OS as my first because I was worried about Nvidia drivers and everyone told me Pop was a safe bet. Stayed with it for about 3 weeks despite a lot of weird issues with audio drivers and just not liking a lot of the Ui even after customizing it heavily, before it completely removed itself one day and I couldn’t even load a backup.

Went back to Windows for 2 months before trying EndeavourOS w/KDE and it’s been my main for almost a year now.

It installs both X11 and Wayland but seems to default to Wayland now.

Don’t even have to edit the config file anymore, it’s a checkbox in the options menu now.

I actually started using Firefox in my early teens just because I liked the look of the Ui and themes better than Chrome.

I’ve also recently switched to Librewolf ;)

The obvious answer is people who grew up using Macs tend to like the Ui and workflow.

Even though I’ve never enjoyed my times using MacOS, I’ll still sell being able to perfectly clone it’s desktop as a feature of Linux for those who do.

It used to be a standard feature within Steam itself for the longest time but Valve kept breaking it with updates and a while back just removed the feature entirely >.>
