Yep. Very common.
A lot of people use their pc like a console or media server. Ie. use it to watch/play stuff from their bed or couch.

I sounds like you don’t actually dislike wayland, but fanboys and toxicity. TBH the linux community is full of that kind of crap.
Imagine if we were all as weird about toasters, having arguments about how toaster brand X was so much better than toaster brand Y.
But luckily people don’t give much of a removed about toasters, as long as they work.
Probably related to this:

L’enfer c’est les autres.
The problem with linux, and I say this out of experience, is that even if it works on 99% of games and 99% of hardware that’s not much comfort if you’re part of the 1%.
Sometimes you’re just removed out of luck. At which point linux is just the worst and you genuinely are better off using windows. That’s invariably not linux’s fault. It’s the manufacturer or developer’s fault.
TBH I’m going to try linux again some day, but I’m going to make sure I have compatible hardware. This is the way.
If you have a test lying around, or if they’re cheap where you are, try one after a few weeks or a month.
Apparently you can test positive even long after you’ve recovered.

A lot of psychology and psychiarty is not proper science. I’m not saying it doesn’t have value, but people should be sceptical. Of course, don’t go the other way and join scientology.
I think a lot of mental health problems are due to SLS.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/removed_life_syndrome
If suspect that if we gave the mentally ill 2k and told them to go on a nice holiday, buy some healthy food, take care of their most urgent bills, many of them would be better off than after a mandatory hold in an underfunded mental health ward or a prescription of xanax from an overworked general practicioner.
High quality mental health care is probably far better, but that’s not what most people have access to.
Heard similarly bad stories from Scandinavia, of all places. If you’re vulnerable, it’s very easy to fall between the cracks, with doctors who abuse their power or make bad mistakes.
Also, the replication crisis really undermines psychology’s claims to scientific knowledge.
Of course, I’m not a scientologist, so I’m not going to claim that people shouldn’t go to see a mental health professional. Anti-depressants do work, therapy can and often does work, but as you say you really need to do your resaerch beforehand, and preferably have family or friends to defend your interests. Otherwise you’ll fall between the cracks just when you’re at your most vulnerable.
Same goes for elderly homes. Personally, I think I’ll kill myself before I ever get that far. If you don’t have family to check up on you, you’re quite likely to be neglected, exploited or abused.
When diplomacy fails, there’s only one alternative. Violence. Force must be applied without apology. It’s the Starfleet way.
Hush now. It will be over soon. The gas will make you sleep.
Hannah Montana Linux.
It’s weird how drama free kbin seems to be. Perhaps because we’re still smaller
I suspect the whole geographic thing also plays into it.
Where I live, you’re never more than 15 minutes from a police station. Maybe half an hour if you live in the middle of nowhere. There are also more than enough cops to go around. I can imagine if you live 4 hours from a police station in the middle of nowhere, or somewhere with 24hr response times, you would want a gun for protection. I certainly would.
Have you tried switching it on and off again.
Some of it is also the nature of the fediverse. For example, you’ll sometimes see people complaining about having to see the same story multiple times.
The exact same article will be posted on technology@lemmy.ml, technology@lemmy.world, technology@beehaw.org, etc. etc. Or you won’t get to see stories depending on which instance you’re using, because server A has chosen not to (no longer) federate with server B, which means you need an account with multiple networks to see the whole fediverse, despite the fediverse supposedly being interconnected.
That’s off-putting to many users, but I don’t know if there’s a way to change that easily, because these kinds of things are arguably part and parcel of the fediverse.
In Qatar’s case it’s in large part due to immigration. Loads of young men for the building industry, for example.
Population size more than tripled from early 2000 to mid 2010s.
The people who gave up because they couldn’t solve their issues aren’t posting either.
