So I think what you’re saying is that you’ve created a Lemmy instance and joined a community from another Lemmy instance but you can’t see all the posts?

My understanding is that your instance will only start syncing content from that community AFTER someone on your instance joins it. If you’re the first person on your instance to join cats then you won’t see anything from before the moment you joined, but you will get all the content that is posted after you joined. If you aren’t the first person on your instance to join then you’ll be able to see older posts.

I wondered that when I saw whitepeopletwitter and animetitties in my feed. You can name communities anything you want here! You don’t need to use subreddit names that were created in protest of other subreddits. Just name them Tweets and World News.

If you scroll through the community bans of World News@lemmy.ml, you’ll see there’s a mod going crazy handing out months long bans for having the wrong opinion on the current conflict. Mods aren’t beholden to anyone but themselves, so if that’s how they want to mod then that’s how it’s going to be. Thankfully, Lemmy has hundreds of communities discussing the conflict so you might find better mods in one of those communities.

This. I feel the drop in users are the people who came here thinking it was a place for “free speech” and are upset for being downvoted for removed comments.

In reality it’s probably people who checked out the site, saw its mostly software/tech and political communities, a handfull of communities for trans people and reposted memes, and a dash of “the West will fall and China will prevail” communist communities, and decided to leave.

Also the porn is hidden too well, and even when you figure out how to find it, the porn that exists is 90% furry and hentai. Reddit has a huge amateur porn community that I’m certain keeps much of their users coming back.

It’s just money in general. Not every province tracks foreign ownership of residential housing, but those that do show only about 5% of houses are owned by foreigners. It’s mostly rich Canadians and Canadian businesses that have purchased a huge amount of housing as a form of market speculation.

However, houses being worth a small fortune is good for anyone who already owns a house, which is most Canadians. The issue is that not everyone wants house prices to drop.
