Can you give a few examples of what men can’t say or do completely freely in liberal places?
Can you give a few examples of what men can’t say or do completely freely in liberal places?
Can you give a more precise example? I hope you do not mean individuals who write stuff online. In what way do left oriented organisations treat all men like they are bad?
How exactly are men treated by the left? Perhaps you can give some examples so people understand what your problem is.
Which of those issues are in place because men are oppressed as being inferior instead of being gender expectations that feminism targets? Meaning: which are a consequence of gender expectations?
High suicide rate is connected to men more likely to have access to guns and because they are less likely to go to a doctor because of gender expectations.
Loneliness is on the rise for everyone. Some studies find more loneliness in women. The idea of “the male loneliness epidemic” is meme that just generates tons of clicks and engagement. It’s not real.
For the work place it’s again a problem of gender expectations. It’s not because people see men as inferior.
So are the next three.
Men are actually more likely to get custody if they ask for it. You have fallen for a manosphere conspiracy theory that has no basis in reality. Women more often get custody because when both parents work, the men’s job is respected, the women’s isn’t. They get automatically assumed to be the caregiver because of gender expectations. The only thing a man has to do is literally ask for custody. On the other hand, a single mother who is expected to do the brunt of the caregiving, can’t force the father to take more time with the kids. Simply because of gender expectations.
I did have a smartphone, so I was able to look up several steps I could try. For example installing an experimental driver. In the end I had to install kubuntu and purge xfce, since they had a working driver in their library.
Since I had to type in all commands blindly the worst part was obviously wondering if I mistyped somewhere or if it just didn’t work. When I lost track I used the beep command to check if I was stuck.
Nooo I have so many… This one I can explain in English:
Xubuntu but blind
So, this is ~2016. Ubuntu is hip and a handful of my students use it. On my PCs I only use Debian and Suse. So to help them better I take out an old ASUS laptop and install Ubuntu on it. Try out Xubuntu instead.
At that time I was also huge into alternative keyboard layouts. I had a slightly modified Neo keyboard layout installed when I switched to Xubuntu.
Here the fun starts because the obscure internal graphics card built into the laptop didn’t have driver support under Xubuntu. Black screen but I could hear it working. This was the hardest driver fix I ever did. No monitor and a keyboard layout I wasn’t used to, under a Linux distro I wasn’t used to. And I also was at the university library, so no hardware support or Debian stick in reach.
This is a great resource and post! I feel bad for commenting already but I can’t help it.
OpenSuse is missing and, this is of course personal opinion, but I think Debian is a great distro for beginners.
Also OpenSuse can be great for beginners. Though not as much as Debian.
When you have your own instance? No.
The Fediverse can not run out of money.
In theory, every user could host their own Fedi Instance and it would still be the Fediverse. As a community we should work towards enabling people to do just that by providing comprehensive and multilingual tutorials and support. If the big instances really do crash, for whatever reason, people would be prepared.
Also, smaller instances don’t cost much money. A simple Minecraft server is more expensive to host. At least when it comes to Lemmy. Obviously something like a Peertube instance can become expensive when you want other users to make their accounts on it.
Unfortunately, there are actually people like this.
“Transabled” is a term some people use that wish to be disabled. There were even cases of people who paid doctors illegally to amputate a limb or they hurt themselves.
“Transage” are people who believe they actually have a different age. For example they feel like they are really 13. Some of them use that to justify relationships with minors.
They try to piggyback on the trans movement and present mental acrobatics in a whole new dimension of removeded up to explain why they are supposedly similar to people who are trans. (Which they really obviously aren’t, I think that doesn’t need explaining.)
And you can bet on it that trolls and right wingers use these obscure group of mentally unwell people to attack LGBTQ people and movements.
Sadly not all of them are. I looked at the instance and clicked on a post where they share some book that collects “positive examples of grownup-child sexual relationships”. With a huge rabbit hole attached I won’t descend further into. This is legit some dark corner of the internet removed.
I wish people would inform themselves before they jump to conclusions. If you don’t want to look at the instance that’s fine and understandable (and probably for the best). But don’t make assumptions and try to immediately spread discord without even trying to look at what you are talking about first. Otherwise it is you who is fanning the flames of hatred.
They share links to pedophilic material, they have a “smash or pass” thread for lolis, openly discuss how sex with children “isn’t always harmful”, consider themselves “transage” and therefore as good partners for minors etc. etc.
Do you find it impossible for an older lady to have the capacity to understand hardware compliances or use Linux?
I wonder how many 4 year olds are using Lemmy… Ah sorry, there’s the ageism again :<
Experiencing social consequences for saying something people disagree with is not infringing on your freedom. Unless they band together and try to go further than simply not liking what you have to say, how is that stopping men from saying their opinion on 4chan?
Independently, I wouldn’t call 4chan a liberal place. As far as I know, 4chan started and participated in activities in the past that go far beyond simply not liking an opinion. They doxxed, harassed and threatened people, among other things. And with support from many people on that platform.
