I’m not 100% confident but I thought you could use portals to access individual files outside of the sandbox

Probably along the lines of ‘its bloated and too many dependencies’.
Though most flatpaks use a common base, any modifications on top of that sometimes need to be stored modified (now having 2 or more copies of one dependency)
To anyone that’s not a Linux nerd the app looks about the same size as on all other OS’s, but on Linux it makes it a lot larger than just bare bones installing it via package manager
Assuming scaling isn’t an issue in import, blender is capable of something this simple with its measurement tool
Using the vertex snapping tool you can drag a ruler from point A to B, then drag the middle of the line to point C and it will display the angle between the CA and CB vectors
"There’s also ongoing work within the GNOME camp around VRR, enabling HDR on the desktop, etc. "
Right there. Right in the article dog. You think desktops dont render or something? And even without that you think they could have absolutely no valuable input being there?
All I gotta say is I only see one moron in this comment section and it ain’t the root comment
Not sure if it’ll solve the issue but you could try docker/podman with x11docker to separate the 2 instances (ie only allow them to see 1 gpu/peripherals), cause it seems like theyre stepping on each others toes rn
Any other BSD-based vm’s that do (PCI pass through that is)?
Ive wanted to swap my debian server over for a while, but the occasional windows only software is keeping me in linux (what a time to be alive lol)
Take whan happened in canada with a grain of salt cause that’s as monopoly vs monopoly, of course the outcome is gonna be as functional as a 2 y/o whining contest
It could be volumetrically to scale, which to say at the least is disgusting for a 2D graph
Nix is definitely gaining popularity quick too
I think what youre looking for is do they work together
Essentially yeah, any phone that can run linageos has a lot more options but a lot worse support for anything that doesn’t like root.
If you are one of those lucky few you can look into things like Ubuntu touch
You got me there, like a container without containing it?
But I suppose most like a privellaged container (as much as the android user is privellaged).
The most important connection in my analogy though was it runs its ‘root’/those packages separately from the android operating system, cause we can’t install our own packages there
It runs a lot like a container
Nah they’re wrong debian doesn’t support 99% of android hardware, most of which is proprietary and non reverse enginered.
The best you can do is termux, but there are ways to get gpu acceleration depending on your hardware
I think youre mixing up importance with being everything, gnu is insanely important and has had a lot of positive effects - but that doesn’t make it my second wife any more than it makes it an OS. its a software foundation at the end of the day.
This even includes the linux-libre, its not all of gnu like all of gnu isn’t an os, one could extend the same idea to the KDE foundation too
How I personally frame it is for the system to operate, linux is required. Sure its a dog removed os compared to modern expectations, but hey it operates
love the name cause every time I think its gotta be a joke. Like did they name it after Lief Erikson day
(spongebob reference for the uninitiated)
alright where’s that XCKD, imma make another package distribution method to ‘unify all the methods’
Depends on the project, something like the linux kernel? all the damn time, something like a launcher tho is already in googles aggressively sandboxes environment, so can’t removed up too much even if it tried
Makes sense, but at least this would generally be out of a normal users usage case (multi-file documents), and so the power user could probably just open flatseal.
For things like bookmarks it’d work fine, and by extension make the sandbox more secure
