Over time I’ve seen several groups tinker with p2p protocols for packages. Latest using gnunet/ipfs for Guix packages. But I’ve never seen a working/integrated system. Weird…

Yeah, data can be beautiful - but is ugly if presented misleadingly. Only very little can be concluded from this ‘graph’ (without sources btw), but it is presented as if the inner west are the great core of enlightenment, spiraling out to the ‘dumber’ nations. The level of knowledge excellence is obviously related to the amount of dollu spent - which is nonsense. My equally valid opinion is that Western liberal/Capitalist education is exceedingly inefficient, and only optimized for wage-slavery. Notice how all the super ‘edumecated’ citizens from the west have been so easily propagandized to think that Russia is the bad guy. …China is the bad guy …socialism is bad …communism evil …Capitalism GREAT! We are the best!! …and so on and so on with similar infantile propaganda from the Capitalist elite. The average intellects in these ‘educated’ western nations is Embarrassing, and misinformation from constant propaganda doesn’t help much i’m afraid…
I’m not a Gnome expert and are using the ‘dash2dock’ extension, but if I right click on rightmost ‘show apps’ icon, and select 'dash2dock settings, I can change opacity, bg color and such.
Not sure where else to change those settings, so apol’s if this is not applicable in your case.

If you decide to expose your ‘desktop’, then you could also log in remote and just work with the files directly on ‘desktop’. This oc depends on usage pattern of the files.

Always sad when Capitalism/monetization creeps in and cripples/pollutes open and free movements/projects :-( There are many many examples of projects dying off, converting to proprietary, etc. Luckily people are forking and creating new FOSS software all the time. I’m going more and more full FOSS, de-google/meta/m$ and so on. I’m tired always spending time changing software/workflow because of monetization creep, I’m tired of closed drivers, telemetry/spying, bitcoin scams and all the other utter garbage the Capitalist religion brings in to my life.
I have chosen Guix as my new home partly for this reason. Here, the default is that if I doesn’t compromise, I know that I won’t suddenly see these yucky things creeping into my system. That gives me a safe space where I can plan/build long term without wasting my time fighting Capitalism and all the removed that automatically follows…
I hope the Nix community finds a solution.

I think there are several factors influencing when someone feel ‘bloat’. There’s the ‘purists’ that tend to optimize their system to be as ‘lean & mean’ as possible - relentlessly, and there’s the simplists that just want a simple setup/dashbord they can control - without too many options/distractions from info-bloat. Info-bloat hints to different types of bloat: filesize, dependencies, gfx details/animations, option-bloat, monetization-bloat and so on. There may also be cultural tendencies within different distro communities gentoo, tendencies from those with the emacs syndrome, or other more political groupings…
The last factor I can imagine atmo is that the level of hardware is very important and low end operators will tend to see more bloat when things run slowly - no matter their ‘bloat focus’.

Looks pretty cool. It almost gives a desktop-workspace vibe and seems way smarter than me flipping through my 6-10 session tabs.
Does someone know if Zellij run ontop of bash, fish etc, or is it a shell replacement ? I hopped to Guix and would rather not dive too deep atmo with changing shells and so on. Also, is it possible to control with mouse ? I often lean back and do things with a mouse and prefer both options if possible.

Can’t you just look up your location and enter it your self in redshift config ? I did that a few years ago, and it worked fine.
Also Redshift can be controlled from the cli, so cron would work wonders.

I feel I should know this in my bones after so many years, but does ‘privileged’ in kernel context also include ‘sudo/sudo su’ elevated users ? I wonder if the kernel distinguish between pure root, and elevated user …or if it even matters here ?

I agree. However, I think it is related to Capitalism and all the sociopathic corporations out there. It’s almost impossible to think that anything good will come from the Blue Church controlling even more tech. Capitalism have always used any opportunity to enslave/extort people - that continues with AI under their control.
However, I was also disappointed when I found out how negative ‘my’ crowd were. I wanted to create an open source lowend AGI to secure poor people a descent life without being attacked by Capitalism every day/hour/second, create abundance, communities, production and and in general help build a social sub society in the midst of the insane blue church and their propagandized believers.
It is perfectly doable to fight the Capitalist religion with homegrown AI based on what we know and have today. But nobody can do it alone, and if there’s no-one willing to fight the f*ckers with AI, then it takes time…
I definitely intend to build a revolution-AGI to kill off the Capitalist religion and save exploited poor people. No matter what happens, there will be at least one AGI that are trained on revolution, anti-capitalism and building something much better than this effing blue nightmare.
