Thats a bit of a wild leap. Would you be against using tech to respond rapidly to a gunshot in the school? Like those audio sensors which can pinpoint its location and alert security instantly?

Yours is too, its posting a silly link at the bottom which makes you look like you’re a Facebook mom in 2003.

Yeah though I have to admit I like it when people self censor because I imagine them like a cute Ned Flanders all flustered ‘well dang diddly h - e - double C!’
But yeah it’s nice that platform’s exist simply for people to express themselves rather than to serve as vehicles for advertising. I’ll say removed to celebrate that!
People will say I’m crazy but I love freeCAD, the sketch and part benches are all i really need because I’m mostly using it to make project boxes and dial holders but it’s nice that it can do so many other things. Not great for artistic tools I’d use blender for that but technical stuff it’s great.
I use Ubuntu for everything I do (except building and testing windows binaries) beside upgrading when it asks me to I never really have to worry about anything, everything I use just works and the ui is fine.
I’m not a big gamer and I only really use open source software so I don’t know if you’ll want to do things I don’t but I do pretty much everything else: image editing, video editing, CAD, coding, all sorts of weird internet stuff.
Personally I believe that yes open source should be created by governments for the global good, that open source should be created by people studying PhDs and that community commons projects should be part of schooling with students learning how to use and contribute to them.
However the main brunt of open source should be created by people who simply want it to exist because we will always outnumber and outperform government workers and students.
Personally I would love to see a world where contributing to community projects is something everyone does as part of their life, not only because it’ll create more open source but because I think it’ll be a much healthier community if we stop seeing everyone else around us as competition and start seeing them as fellow workers in the project to improve life for all.
Yeah it’s open source, 3rd party tools existing is kinda the point really. If these people care so much then they should be working on making tools to address the issue, or funding someone to do so.
Well it’s not really just about making you happy, the project is about displacing corporate controlled media so that community projects and social movements can flourish allowing us up create a better world for all.
I myself have very elitist and isolationist tendencies but I think it’s important to set them aside somewhat for the common good.
It’s funny a good open source washing machine with wifi could be amazing, would allow for so much more control by letting you modify programs and view diagnostics but proprietary hardware is never going to let you do the good stuff because the you wouldn’t need to buy the more expensive but physically almost identical models.
