Agreed, screw the person running that instance. If I wanted to see the front page of reddit I’d go to reddit. They aren’t helping Lemmy grow, they’re just a spammer.

I’m talking about default comment sort. You can only change the default sort for your post feed at the account level. Not comments. Apps like voyager and photon allow it, which is why I hope alexandrite will eventually too, but it’s not a native setting in lemmy, regardless of what instance you use.

Alexandrite is great. The only thing really keeping Alexandrite from a 10/10 for me is the inability to set the default comment sort to top, new, etc. It’s a minor gripe but having to change it myself every time is frustrating all the same.

Yep, it’s missing Mastodeck for web and Ice Cubes for iOS which are both quite popular. I’d understand it if the list were curated with a focus on lesser known apps and UIs but this looks like a random hodgepodge of selections. I bet that entire site is just a chatGPT generated info dump.

Yep, that’s exactly why I think that warning label is a good thing.

The apps page now has sections for Android, iOS, and web apps, as well as libraries. Feel free to do a pull request to add any apps that are missing.

I’m digging the warning that identifies closed source apps. It’s a nice courtesy and makes it clear that they’re an exception not the norm.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Alexandrite is what the reddit redesign should have been. It’s just a shame that the company didn’t give one single removed about actually making a user friendly desktop experience.
