If they use windows they also know what a GPU driver is, if they use AMD that’s better on linux, they don’t need to know what a GPU driver is. Unless of course the “normal” user need a rocm driver.
And it’s why Windows became the de facto standard: single UI, consistent toolset.
No so true after win 7, there’s a bunch of legacy menu.
Is Linux As Good As We Think It Is?
No, it’s better.
Seriously, when something that I paid for it doesn’t work is annoying when something that I choose to use doesn’t work is somewhat my fault, I think that’s the difference.
It collects phone numbers of its users, which can be used to identify people making it a data collection tool that resides on a central server in the US. By cross-referencing these identities with data from other companies like Google or Meta, the government can create a comprehensive picture of people’s connections and affiliations.
That’s removed up. I always found bad to have the phone number as requirement but that’s make a lot of sense.
For what he said is more that when he search for something he only finds CLI commands, he just doesn’t know about the GUI controls.
I don’t see how that’s much different from making a comment, it’s not election, how is voting on a comment/post different from voicing your opnion with a comment?
Do I prefer the completely private option? Yes, but if the alternative is that some people can see and others can’t, I prefer that everyone can see it.
I did that for about a year while I was waiting for a game to be supported on linux. I agree, is the best procedure.
They are more “community” than the ex-redditor secluded island that is most of the others instances, that’s definitely the side effect of age.
Depends, the /c/games@hexbear.net is politically charged as expect at any game community, what I found more interesting is the hatred for gamers(this one is deserved).
Duplicate with half the posts and a third of comments.
hahahaha best advice ever.
1 out of the 3 total norwegian changed the OS after creating a lemmy account.
After running it and properly configure the paths I once again came to the conclusion: I removeding hate Google.
The web versions are hot garbage (or at least used to be 3 years ago and I doubt that’s changed)
It’s better, less hassle than run a VM just for that.
The atomic updates are fantastic too. I have not crashed once in the two weeks of setup whereas before I would have a crash maybe 1-2 times per week.
I think I crashed it less than 10 times in 2 years of usage.
That makes a lot of sense.
Fair enough, is definitely not my experience and I have an account on .ml for about 1 year.
I could argue that I see more trolls on lemmy.world than any other instance, but that obvious: is the larger instance but probably the ratio troll/normal people is more or less the same than any other instance.
they’re the worst kind of “it’s not my job to explain it to you, Google it” people too.
That’s a behaviour that I do not see ever on the communities that I participate(basically technology and linux)
Yep, the mod got way overboard in the situation that started all this removed. Banning a user in almost all lemmy.ml communities is too much.
Some people got really butt hurt because of some mods in lemmy.ml
You mean because of the recent discovered flaw?
