Same reason most non technical people using Linux today do so on the Steam Deck. If you want to spread Linux, trying to convince individuals is going about it all wrong.

Am I your coworker? In my case the dir was created by a poorly written Python script. I just banged out the rm -rf from muscle memory without pause.
I wrote my own. Though it’s not just for dot files, it sets up my full environment including installing packages, running scripts, neovim plugins, cloning repos etc. Here’s where it’s used.
That said it isn’t really documented and I only work on it if I need something myself, so I wouldn’t recommend it 😂
