Well like any distro it’s not just the desktop environment (Gnome) but follows an opinionated setup and design. There’s bundled packages, design tweaks to the DE, config changes to packaged software, different default apps and repos for the base OS (Debian in this case) and other tweaks. Link below should explain this all in more depth.
I think proxmox or qemu might interest you https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Performance_Tweaks#Disk_Cache

Even the surface book 3 with it’s two batteries only got 7 hours for me with use.
It’s all about the TDP of the chip, pixel density and refresh rate of the screen and battery capacity.
Recipe for long battery life is low power CPU, lower resolution (HD vs UHD) screen, no touch input, bigger battery.
Tablets don’t usually follow that recipe.
Por que no los dos? Add a download or p2p library so if you find something cool on Funkwhale you can snag it and host it yourself. Oh removed, I just created soulseek.
Plus one for asterisk, very easy to set up in a secure fashion.

Glances?
I thought the point of federation is that you cannot force an instance to federate with any other activity pub app or service? I’m very happy to be wrong.
That is not properly secure storage for such a valuable item
Kobos will read azw3 and it’s easier to put on a kobo than it is a linux image. Also Calibre does a great job of converting azw3 to epub format.
Any kobo products, second hand kobos are great as they’re really reliable.
Onyx is much nicer, essentially a tablet with an e ink display. Look at the onyx book 2 refurbished
I wouldn’t say it’s inappropriate as there is more and more rust making it into the native kernel. I’ll definitely throw this on my Ventoy usb and see if I can get it to boot
You’re 100% right that this is a danger of attempting to consolidate
I think a unified package manager/app store model that is vetted by all contributing distros would go a long way. SteamOS/Steam deck is bringing gamers to linux and that’s great. But it would be easier to bring on a lot more desktop users if there was an app store that every distro could visit. Flatpak is close, snaps however I think are too polarizing.
Us weird debian testing users.
ZFS was built initially for large SANs so it’s very cache driven. You should get two SSDs and add both for cache.
Ah sorry I responded to the wrong post somehow. Meant that for OP
Yes, however he toiled for a while on his own before release when he was still at university, that’s the time period I’m referencing.
