On her computer, why not just use Thunderbird on it? Or even outlook, or whatever she likes. She just needs to pick the software.
On her phone, or even yours, why the stuff with accessing Thunderbird through vnc. Just add the server to whatever mail app on your phones?
If you want a web based thing, roundcube or sogo. But Thunderbird is gonna suck the way you are trying to use it.
Stupid rspamd default config on my server blocked an email confirming an order from rayban I guess because it was the first time it saw an email from them? Couldn’t even release it, which annoyed me greatly.
And it also put a confirmation from a hotel into quarantine because the resort didn’t have a valid spf record. But at least I could release that one.
I ended up making it much more permissive as a result. But it was super annoying.
It’s got a hell of a datacenter.
From LA to Vegas. Took the servers down end of business one night, drove it all night, installed it and got it back online before start of business the next day.
In the middle of something 200tb for my Plex server going from a 12 bay system to a 36 LFF system. But I’ve also literally driven servers across the desert because it was faster than trying to move data from one datacenter to another.
I learned nginx when I was hosting websites. I had it set up and running when it was time to add reverse proxies into my setup. It didn’t take much more from the virtual hosts I was already using.
Now, I don’t host many individual sites anymore and haproxy has a plugin on my firewall for the handful of services I run now.
I’m still using an almost 10 year old printer. I do this any time I have to make adjustments. And it’s with a removeding allen wrench. Such a pain in the ass.

At best, it means sysadmin have to support both Linux and windows. You’re going to double everyone’s tools.
This reads like an engineer who is way too invested in using their toolset and thinks everyone else is stupid for not using the same. Like someone who has never worked in management or had to make business decisions. They are looking at it only through a tech viewpoint.
Not only would you need to have an IT team that knew how to manage and support it (which costs money and time) but you then have to train your entire work force which costs insane amounts of time. You would have to do IT training for every new hire for them to even use their computer. That sort of time and training (which takes two employees, the trainer and trainee) costs a lot of money, far more than any OS licensing or end user software costs. Plus the decreased work output while the user to get used to the toolset.
In a software development company, sure, Linux might be a valid option. But it’s not ready for most companies main workforce. And it’s not a technological issue. It’s a human resources issue.
Ah yea. I’ve seen the whole digital ocean IP space be blocked. They really dont like digital ocean.
Most mail service will not outright block email. Most seem to be configured to follow a handful of blacklists and build a reputation.
They might start you marked as spam, but few outright block based solely on IP. Spam filters are far more mature than that these days.
Interesting. I don’t really want to get into troubleshooting, but general curiosity has me wondering a few things since my server gets delivered to Gmail but only marked as spam for a new domain for the first couple weeks.
Is there a hard spf fail? Is your IP or domain on any blacklists? Is it a digital ocean or similar vps provider using their IP pool? Do you get any bounce back from Gmail with a reason or is it silently dropping?
I’ve made a few things. One, Mickey shaped cabinet hardware I put up for free because I didn’t want to deal with Disney. Though I might put the raw print up on Etsy or something just because.
Another is a frame to turn a Disney name tag into an ornament. I’m selling the completed product rather than releasing the design because I wanted to really offer it to people who didn’t have 3d printers and wanted to ensure that it met my standards. And I didn’t want competition. That said, it takes quite a lot of time to print, prep, sand, and paint. I spend a couple hours in finishing each and sell it at a price that… Totally doesn’t make it worth it.
