Remember, just because the money is spent, it doesn’t mean it is spent well. I’m sure a lot of the US dollars are fed into sports programs and other spending, and not directly towards efforts that would benefit the most students or workers.

Communities like this always skeeve me out. I know that I’m just being cynical, but random internet strangers aren’t really a great place to go to get information and help if you are in one of these circumstances. At best you’ll end up in an echo chamber of people who will just keep you on the same downward spiral, and at worst you’ll run into someone who will try to take advantage of your vulnerability. Sure, there may be some out there that are qualified to help, but their voice will be drowned out by the throngs of, “Yeah! removed your parents! Hop a train!” and “Hey, I’ve got a warm van you can sleep in if you need some place.”

I really don’t understand how you all get these popups and ads. I’m using Windows 11 on a key that has been upgraded since at least 7, and I get zero ads, zero notifications, zero pleas for me to install shovelware. It feels like you’ll spend a day setting up whatever distro gives you the most cred just to get a word processor running, but going into a menu on windows to change some settings once is a bridge too removeding far. I’ll just wait here patiently for the well constructed arguments and deluge of downvotes I’m sure are coming.
