The different Garuda varients sans the gaming version are different desktop environments. Garuda just happens to support a lot. The gaming version of dragonized (which is KDE) is just dragonized with preinstalled gaming apps, probably the ones featured on their garuda gamer app

How I see it, its more that if you use multi CCD cpus, you have to manage the CPU manually as some games prefer cache, some games prefer clockspeed, and the OS picks the wrong one at times (usually the clock speed) as the OS assumes the higher clock speed = faster. As the thread director works correctly with Intel chips for the most part (where the e cores have a lower clock) so the e cores are often not selected for performance.

The solution AMD will have to transition to is to exchange the other CCD for the core count focused design (e.g Zen 4 vs Zen 4c) which would be clocked lower to receive similar benefits from the current itteration of thread director.

The last line is the condition to making linux work. Like hackintochs, its very hardware specific, and switching over to linux means an average user has to make concessions.

E.g for nvidia users, they have to conceed that some of their features normally available to them on windows will not work on linux, and get inferior driver support.

Because people only care about if the OS gives them what they want in a convenient manner. Not everyones usecase is covered well with Linux, especially the most basic one, having the laptop installed with linux on the getgo is an extremely limited pool of devices to choose from.

Ive been using classic(then open) shell since moving off of 7 for consistency. for the most part, there haven’t been any serious bugs that im aware of. Because the app works between windows versions, start bar for me at least has been pretty much consistent since windows 7 existed, and the stuff id adjust to would be changes in some apps (e.g control panel > settings) that happened overtime.

The problem of some users is they want the vanilla experience to be what they want when there are options to not make something vanilla. Similar to debates on linux distros on whether you want a very specific UI design vs having a distro that is personalizable and customizable based on preference.

Its why I always find it funny when people complain about changes to the start bar, because surely there isnt a bunch of 3rd party options in existance that change it, and can mimic 7’s start bar.

If you’re ever like on Amazon and find refurbished dell desktops, or any laptop in general (including apple products), there’s a decent chance it came from an e-waste organization first before being bought by a reseller in bulk. There are some companies who “bling” old desktops and resell them in the market place.

yes. Companies goal is to essentially take in e-waste and used stuff, sort through it and pull out decent laptops/desktops wipe(or destroy) hard drive based on instructions, and resell. The company that gives us the goods gets a cutback of what’s being sold. everything else that is junk is then sorted and recycled to their respective correct facilities. Gotta use the second R in the 3 R’s and the third for whatever is considered old. What’s considered old goods is still very desirable to another company, especially companies outside of the U.S where computers may be more expensive, especially when you’re trying to get them in bulk.

the work laptop I use is definitely used goods, in fact relevant to thread as it is a 8th gen Thinkpad T490.

Isnt that based on the assumption that Valves public comment about removing the drm in the case they go under is a lie. It becomes a trust issue then, and to the public view, many put trust in them.
