I have a few 2015 laptops, the last time the apple logo lights up like it damn well should, (and their operating systems are still getting updates almost a decade later) ipods and an iphone 6 I’ve fixed, apple TV because it was cheap enough. all told I’m in it for less than the cost of a new macbook and apple hasn’t got a cent yet. I have an imac from 2008 I found on the side of the road that actually needs linux but a computer of that vintage in 2008 would be a paperweight at best, the fact it’s still useful as a computer at all is astonishing to me.

I recently got into the apple ecosystem and am loving it.

I know this is a linux community and apple is literally the devil but I haven’t had a bad experience with it yet.

I think I destroyed a USB stick back in the day doing this removed. be careful they don’t lock the stick and if they do make sure you use the program to wipe the stick ASAP before you forget what program you used to make it.

I have a ventoy stick for this exact reason, just copy iso to stick, no need to burn a new one every time.

For most things Windows on a VM under Linux is unironically faster than native Windows.

I have an edge case that works better on bare metal and I removeding hate how Linux messes with the system clock every time.

let me tell you about the guy who invented bashing rocks together …

there was no way to set default path so everything got saved to the top level directory. maybe they’ve added it since but this wasn’t that long ago.

I literally had to run the windows version of handbrake in virtual box because for some reason the linux version can’t save to the same directory as the input files while batch processing.

basically the same otherwise, fine for single files.

with Anita in the thumbnail I’d be surprised if it gets double digit clicks

and you have an update ready to install on reboot? holy removeding removed, that is not even remotely acceptable for an enterprise level operating system.

I multibox so the overhead of a compatibility layer and the sheer power required to run windowed (for some removeding reason) to keep full screens from minimizing on focus loss has forced me to run windows again. Being able to tab out but not being able to tab back into something that launched from a game launcher is an extra special removed you.

For me linux is way to much of a hassle right now. I’m looking to offload my arr stack onto my nas or jellyfin box because while I’m gaming, which is most of the time, I’m not sailing.

I don’t see myself uninstalling Pop but it hardly feels like a daily driver anymore.
