I’m sorry for leaving out the word “desktop”. I’m well aware that Android runs the Linux kernel and that many embedded systems run Linux.
Possibly I conflated them with Broadcom, but I feel sure I recall Qualcomm’s lack of openness being problematic in the past also.

When did Qualcomm start giving a removed about Linux? They’ve been on my “hardware and chipsets to avoid if possible” list for pretty much ever.

I wish I could just go 10 minutes without using terminal.
As someone who prefers using the terminal for many common tasks, it’s hard for me to imagine what is forcing you to the terminal that often.
This looks super cool, but I’ve been using midnight commander for so so long.
Edit: the linux-company thing is just for triggering people, sorry I didn’t know it was this effective.

Nothing against Fedora, but generally I’d steer a noobie to mint or popos before Fedora. It has been some time since I tried Fedora (years) but not very long since I’ve seen someone complaining about dependency/repo issues (which is where I always ran into problems with Fedora eventually)
Having said that, folks who don’t run Arch tend to say it breaks far more often than it actually does, so my opinion on Fedora may be just as uninformed. (I don’t run Arch BTW, but I do run a derivative.)

Any chance it’s hardware dependent? First I’m hearing of this and I just toggled it off and on to be sure I wasn’t seeing things - mine is definitely working. I’m all-Intel FWIW.
That said, hearing they redirect apt calls to snap instead feels – A bit too microsofty for my tastes
I also haven’t been with an Ubuntu based distro for awhile, but I’ve got a lot of affection for Canonical generally. I even accepted the idea of the amazon-in the-dash-thing (which had a lot of folks sharpening pitchforks some years back) as being kind of an honest mistake - so excited that they could that they didn’t consider if they should, sort of.
But yeah, that’s exactly what it feels like with snaps, and for that specific reason.
Have you dug into the options at all? If I’m visualizing what you are describing correctly, I think spending some time here should solve your issues.

I don’t really get this but I’m going to assume it’s that my workflow is just different than yours.
I have keyboard shortcuts I’m happy with that let me navigate my virtual desktops as desired and place widows on them. If I wasn’t happy with those shortcuts I could change them. I can see having different preferences, or etc, but what makes it a hot mess exactly?
