If you’re asking in earnest, the last decade has shown for profit corps know no bounds in using technology to extract, poorly protect, and often aggregate and then will make any attempt to monetize possible–often retroactively. While a dishwasher might not have much data in itself to exploit, if your internet connected TV, Car or phone which is constantly scanning for nearby WI-FI items or networks decided to start cataloguing them…well then that would just be a Tuesday for Google, Ford or Sony right?
The more data points, the worse. More breaches, more creepy facts about us floating around in some creepy company or regime’s stockpile of data to be used, unilaterally against me. Or maybe the next company to buy the current company I’m happy with. Or the next regime that decides people like me aren’t full humans. Between your computer and phone, most people’s lives are somewhat laid bare, but add in car tracking which auto companies have stuck their funnel into during the last 5 years, add in appliances, put Wi-Fi if your shower handle…again the people adding Wi-Fi to things like a dishwasher that don’t need it have only one thing to gain, monetizing your data and selling it to someone who wants to control you in some way.
Thank you, the FCC filing is a good idea, if you find something useful that would be great.
“Our main story tonight is about a 100 year old woman who says her secret to old age is walking around barefoot and never brushing her teeth. More news on this super calloused fragile mistress hexed with halitosis after the break.”
Reply notifications serve the immediate purpose to take you back to the thread if you want, but having a personal post history that is blank because I prefer fresh content in communities is strange to me especially in a nacent project with limited content on many communities.
Yes, it makes sense to hide posts in any community or all, but not one’s own posts or own profile.
When you submit a post, often it’s to have a discussion you’d like to follow, advice or info to gain from others, etc. Lemmy marks these as read since you’ve obviously seen them to create them, even for your own posts, so they don’t show up under “posts” on your own profile. Having ones own profile be blank of posts because you’d like to have fresh content everywhere else seems like a miss.
You work for free as an intern while your rich parents cover your living costs, it’s the American way.
If you were such an awful person to not have been born into such privilege, then get removeded. You’re under qualified for starter jobs that want 3-5 years of experience and require a degree(they you don’t need) or you’re overqualified if you actually have experience and your salary request will not be accepted.
Yeah, this is a data, inputs or measurement difference graph, not an apples to apples visualization. As bad as healthy and obesity in our country are and have been, this did not change by this much in 10 years. I’d guess either the data for 2012 was skewed low or 2022 high relative to the other.
Thank you for the syntax, I didn’t know that. Wish that stuff was in a help box in text entry field or something so it would be quickly accessible so we could all learn it faster.
