Does Bazzite count? I recommend Bazzite
I use Arch btw
Does Bazzite count? I recommend Bazzite
Yeah I just tried it on my arch desktop and android phone and couldn’t get it to find my devices. Perhaps it’s cause the devices are on VPN?
If it’s anything big I send it to my synology nas. If it’s something small then I honestly just send it through Signal. Although, I do wanna try this kde connect thing out as well.
Your screen on the left appears to be rotated vertically, rotate it 90 degrees clockwise and it should be better.
It really depends. I would only recommend lemmy if they’re a techy. If they’re highly integrated into mainstream social media then it would be a 7/10 recommend. If they want to find an alternative then 10/10 recommend.
I would think chromium would use less memory
It reaaaally depends. Say the person only needs a browser, once they or someone installs the OS, they can just go to firefox and get started doing whatever they do. If they want to play some games then they might need to learn how to get steam, wine, lutris and stuff installed. However, some distros like Bazzite has that installed. I guess it all depends what they want to do with the computer and how much they want to play around with it.
There’s newpipe, libretube, and there’s GrayJay right? What more do we need
It is summer time. Students can now browse the internet more.
I’ve ran OBS on a 5 year old Chromebook with 32GB storage using Linux to stream to Twitch, I think most computers are capable of running OBS to record a video.
I was kinda like you I guess. I was on Ubuntu for many months, probably a year or something and then wanted something new and refreshing, chose Arch and I love it. But this is very very personal so give everything a try if you want but all the distros work perfectly fine so if you’re happy with your decision then just stick with it.
Well I have my port open in my lan but the only way to access it outside of my lan is to port forward. I don’t understand how you can say that all you need to do is open the port and the machine can be accessed.
Same concept applies for any other service like a game server.
Wait really? How? I would imagine some port forwarding or something would need to be done though.
Yeah that won’t work outside lan unless you vpn or something
Til we have a sillicon valley sub
Edit: nvm that’s reddit
He can still use linux with onedrive though, you can edit simple documents on the web. Edit them on libreoffice and upload them will also work.
Do they not know how to use a shared onedrive? It’s exactly like whatever google offers.
Best way imo. Learn how to ssh, copy files from one machine to another and vice versa, configure servers, docker, etc. so much you can do
I installed Bazzite on a sibling’s thinkpad and it was amazing. Chose KDE, out of the box, it was amazing. Fingerprint fprint was pre installed, just had to scan them in settings. Battery management and power level settings (power save or performance) were also already installed. Everything has been flawless. Even full disk encryption works amazingly well without hiccups. I remember trying it on Ubuntu and it bricked itself or something and gave up on it.
Dual booting it and installation was a walk in the park.
