There was some kind of an upgrade and it had privacy issues in the eula. I was dual booting for a while already.
Thank you little amoeba 🦠
Ya you definitely have to pick your battles! I just use plain Samsung android with a sim and am aware of the vulnerabilities it creates. I see it as a low security device, so it can’t just access everything willy nilly. I also work with XR and I am not sure if all the stuff works properly if I’d pick a different solution. I think it’s best to remain practical and keep moving, but to invest a bit of time over the years, which has good results for me.

Ah I mean when you buy for example an Intel CPU it has IME enabled. Some vendors turn this off for you, because doing it at home can brick it. For phones you have some kind of micro Java running on the sim chip and it has full system access and can be patched remotely. I haven’t looked into a real solution yet, but you can also use a solution where the sim is connected via USB. Or don’t use one. There might be other hardware vulnerabilities, but that’s one I know of.
Oh I have another question. How do you deal with those elevated Java apps on the sim? If you’re privacy focused I mean.
That’s because you haven’t been using monero :p
Drugs are an affordable replacement for food and shelter.
What is the Linux successor?
PopOs
Not have 10s of GBs of updates every week. I mean seriously wtf.
Well I’d been on and off for years, but never made the switch due to games. Then windows 8 came out with a terrible privacy policy.
I’m an open book and wouldn’t mind sharing most of my data but I just think it’s improper behavior to make assumptions and to forgo consent. Privacy must be the default. I wouldn’t mind donating most of my data to progress say AI research, but it should be clear to everyone that it is my data and I decide what happens to it. And when it comes to security I believe that proper investigations and warrants are still a thing.
So ya I made the switch and sacrificed the ability to play certain games. Plenty of stuff to play any way. And this issue has been mostly rectified by now as there’s maybe only 5% of games that don’t run properly. Recently I had to refund baldur’s gate 3 due to some visual glitches. At this point I also feel that the developers are responsible for fixing these minor issues.
As a programmer I think it’s a more fitting OS all around for me regardless.
Love your analogy. However I must say windows looks terrible. Then again so do suits, so it holds up. I had to run a win10 VM a while back in order to flip the developer bit on the oculus (don’t even get me started on that PoS). Hadn’t used it in years. Felt like some kind of money grab freak show. I couldn’t even mount an iso without having to visit several pushy sites and use one of those creepy installers. That’s when it hit me how digitally spoiled I truly am.
Oh god that reminds me of those cases where it IS a language bug. It’s like just not part of reality somehow so you don’t see it.
On the bright side you must be tough as bricks now.
I like that it has those little inside bevels to guide the pins. More connectors should have that.
Oh my Bill
