the lemmy devs added per user instance blocks a while ago. Check your settings page
It’s not centralization if not everyone trusts the same server, which there is no obligation to
Can someone less lazy than me explain how it’s functionally different from sharing images on e.g. mastodon?
It might help to have the extension developed/endorsed by mastodon and to have all mastodon instances subtly nagging you to install it.
Also this is only needed for desktop, on mobile web sites can use the OS’s built in share functionality through the web share api
This is a use case for a browser extension imo. never understood the point of having share buttons built in to a site, esp for services I don’t use.
With an extension the user has a smoother, customizable UI - and no need for the web developer to do anything except provide a shareable url.
Peertube uses it already, maybe this will too
Peertube actually uses some pretty nifty p2p tech (not quite BitTorrent iirc but same principle) to mitigate load from popularity spikes.
Idk this has never been too difficult for me, I just piggyback other people’s connections. Like literally find one person that seems cool, stalk their reposts/likes/follows for other people that seem cool and follow them too. repeat as necessary until you have a good feed built up.
idk anything about german literature, i’m russian :( but when i was small i really liked the books momo and neverending story
It’s only used as a one time account verification thing, not a 2fa second factor. Still not great but at least not a security flaw.
Why don’t we replace it with something else that does the same?
This, it is our duty as people with good taste in media to promote better and less popular books to children. Earthsea by leguin, his dark materials by Pullman etc. hundreds of better books out there filling the same niche
God I wish that were true but there are a LOT of people (well, conservatives) who are vehemently against wider society allowing cross dressing or medical transition. It’s not 90% :(
