This seemed neat!
Cool video.
1:30 - how to create the inlays.
2:45 - how to do the nail polish/acetone fill
Another solution is to do z-hop inlay

Never thought of this, and if someone told me , I would doubt it works, but he did it. That’s pretty neat!
That’s fantastic! Honestly in not keen on z hop at all, but this is giving it a pretty strong argument.
I’ve done this, it can be a real pain in the ass. Not to mention the fumes. I had to do several layers over black and it still.came.out darker than I wanted.
This is usually going to be the case when painting over black, unless you’re using really fancy paints. It’s usually better to paint it white first before your color of choice
Fun idea
If possible, try doing filament swaps at a specific layer to make the colors blend in better. It can be a pain with a single spool printer but if you’re willing to splurge a little more on a Bambu Labs model with AMS system you’ll have a much easier time accomplishing this.
Wouldn’t that still be easier than this nail polish technique though? Seems like it would to me.
Enamel paint is suitable for this as well- this is how I apply testors enamels, for example.
For applicators, check for “ink syringes”
